Mt. Diablo Main and South Peaks: Record Snow Fall Jan. 2010

This was just after a record snowfall at the top third of the mountain and, although the temperature was 32° at the north peak, it was 60° at the base. So, about once a year, you'll find white peaks, gray-brown chaparral. and green pasture lands.

Mt. Diablo Main and South Peaks

In 39 years of climbing, biking, and walking Mt. Diablo, I've seen snow, I've seen rain, and I've seen fire. I've seen peculiar weather systems just at the (three) peaks. But this is the first time I've seen clouds, and snow, and brown and green hills, and fall colored trees in one shot. If I was still framing pictures, this would certainly be one. As it was on that day: date added in 2011 - excuse editing date.
