For the Dog and Cat Lovers... and a Couple of Horses and Parrots, Too : After Alex, our Cairn terrier, died in 2009, I started taking photos of some that I've met on my walks, and it's become a habit. It assuages the loss while dulls the memories of the cost of vets.

Owners are wont to take off the leashes, so you'll have to excuse that as part of some of the photos. Remember, this is a hobby. Remember, too, the owners only see a face. They're "parents."

Sometimes I remember names. Most often, not. If you own one of these and you want a copy, just email me and I'll send the original. P.S. MY four dogs, all gone now, are at the end of this gallery. My kids' dogs are there as well. They're not "nature photography" as was originally intended for this site, but dog and cat lovers, enjoy.

For the Dog and Cat Lovers... and a Couple of Horses and Parrots, Too

Miscellaneous, Zoos, Oldies, and Missed Opportunities : I do not like zoos except where there is a conservation effort as well, e.g., San Diego. But there is something about captivity for dolphins, giraffes, elephants, etc, that just seems sad. Almost all zoo pictures here are over 45 years old. and the the only non-digital pix presented. Then there are others that are new and "secondary," but of interest like the very first one: how can a bird that weighs 11 ounces swallow a fish that weighs as much as she does? The last reasons for this gallery is to prove I've actually gotten a photo of a bird that has eluded me.
