From the Pacific Coast, from Yosemite to Yellowstone, Kings Canyon to Sequoia, Zion and Bryce, and the California Coast to Crater Lake and Mt. Rainier. Even some scenics from the Bay Area. There is an emphasis on Yosemite National Park, in part because it's 3 hours from home, and in part because it's so awesome!

Sail Boat on San Francisco Bay
Mendocino, CA

One of the first digital pictures I took. January 26, 2001. Almost all photos of Yosemite and the coast in this gallery were taken with an Olympus 3.3 MP Camedia. Although I love my Canon S3 IS, you've got to hand it to the folk at Olympus. That said, I don't understand why this isn't among the most popular photos in this or any gallery. I even got a couple of gulls to pose.

So, from Yosemite to Yellowstone, Kings Canyon to Sequoia, Zion and Bryce, and the California Coast to Crater Lake and Mt. Rainier. Even some scenics from the Bay Area.

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK - CALIFORNIA - 2005

My favorite national park. We've been to Yosemite perhaps 35 times, 20 with few other people. Those were my favorite visits. The problem with Yosemite is that you really have to have money if you want some of the more comfortable accommodations. That's why we've stayed outside the park most of the time. Hundreds of trails. Different scenery from all five entrances. And even a National Monument (see Devil's Post Pile in this gallery) just east of the park. Most photos are from 2005 (esp. first shots of Bridal Veil, from Glacier Point, and of the Valley from 7,500 feet), and 2011 (you'll see the difference). Both 2005 and 2011 were record snow pack years, and guaranteed us water falls galore. Plus the most amazing intensity of colors and crystal clear skies.

Bridal Veil Fall and Merced River in center. Note that the passes to Glacier Point and Tuolume Meadows were both closed due to abnormally deep snowpack, among the top four ever measured.
